Brenda Kohut
R. Ac.,  Dipl. S.T.
Acupuncturist and RMT

I started my journey of healing by studying Shiatsu Therapy at the Shiatsu School of Canada in Toronto, graduating in 1998 from the 2200-hour program.  While in the program I studied the art of Ear Candling and practice this frequently.

I moved to Banff and worked at Solace The Spa in the Banff Springs Hotel.  While enjoying my time in the mountains I studied Usui Reiki, Raindrop Therapy and Foot and Hand Reflexology.  Although I don’t specifically practice these modalities, I do sometimes integrate them into my regular treatment.  I then took the Acupuncture program at Grant MacEwan College, and graduated from the 3-year program in 2004.

I am a Registered Acupuncturist with Alberta Health and Wellness, and a member of the CAAA (College & Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta).
Currently I’m studying Herbology through distance learning with East-West School of Herbal Medicine, where I study all aspects of herbs, be it Western, Ayurvedic, or Chinese.
Elements Wholistic Centre has been a wonderful place for me to practice for the past few years.
This career has taken me on a wonderful life course and I am very dedicated to supporting the needs of my patients.

In December 2008, my husband and I had our precious little boy, Maximus, so due to daycare my hours are:
  • Tuesday & Thursday   9:00 – 4:00
  • Sunday   9:00 – 3:00  (I take one Sunday off per month)

Lone Odgers,
BSc, RAc, Dip TCM
Registered Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine practitioner

Training & Licensing
Lone is a Registered Acupuncturist with Alberta Health and Wellness (www.health.alberta.ca) and a member of the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (www.acupuncturealberta.ca). She holds a 4-year Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine from Canada’s oldest fulltime acupuncture college, The Canadian College of Acupuncture (www.ccaom.com) and Oriental Medicine (Victoria, BC), and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria (BC).

Treatment Approach & Techniques
Lone practices from a Chinese Medicine perspective, which arrives at a diagnosis through pattern recognition. Instead of labeling diseases, Chinese Medicine describes and categorizes the pattern of symptoms and signs that you are experiencing.
After taking your pulses, looking at the appearance of your tongue, skin, etc., and questioning you about the collection of symptoms you are experiencing, Lone makes a diagnosis and decides on a treatment plan that addresses your individual needs and provides a safe, nurturing and confidential environment for healing and recovery. Your treatment will include one or more of the following techniques:
  • Acupuncture (including ear, scalp)
  • Acupressure
  • Moxibustion
  • Cupping
  • Chinese herbal medicine
  • Chinese diet therapy
Lone also offers Jin Shin Do® Acupressure (www.jinshindo.org) balancing and regulating treatments for clients who are interested in self-care and relaxation.

Conditions
In her Chinese Medicine and acupuncture (Insert link to Services) practice, Lone
treats chronic conditions related to lifestyle, stress, illness and injury
supports pregnant and postnatal women
works with men and women living with pain, cancer and auto-immune conditions.

Before becoming an acupuncturist
Before becoming an acupuncturist, Lone taught English communication and intercultural communication for 18 years in medical, academic and corporate contexts in Canada and Japan. In that time, she and her husband spent 10 years living, working and studying in Japan and travelling throughout Asia. These experiences have shaped how she approaches life, and how she practices acupuncture and Chinese medicine. She has a passion for good food, a deep appreciation of the seasons and natural environment, and curiosity about what makes a life healthful and meaningful.
